Shaki and Sheila talk cats on local Switch Radio

On a sunny day in August, volunteers Sheila and Shaki took to the airwaves to spread the Cats Protection message to – according to presenter Charlie Gibbs – ‘thousands of listeners out there’.
They were invited into the Castle Vale studios of Switch Radio to talk about the work of the North Birmingham branch and managed to cover a host of topics – from the importance of neutering to promoting the charity auction being held in Sutton in September.
‘The girls done good’ and cat-chatted for half an hour or more with hardly a hint of nerves. Says Shaki: “It was great we were given this opportunity to promote neutering, how folk can apply for vouchers, and why we need people to come forward and adopt.”
Added Sheila: “We thanked the shoppers at Sainsburys Castle Vale for being so generous in their donations to the ‘feed the paw’ basket in store. And a new presenter, Johnny Dean, offered on air to set up a PA system for our auction and broadcast the most exciting bids live on the radio station on the day.”
Presenter Charlie had her own tale to tell about her CP rescue cat, Queen. She ‘lords it over them and only eats the very finest feline cuisine – and it has to be served on a tray!’
CP thanks to all at Switch Radio for the invite. And as Arnie would say ‘we’ll be back – but only if you kindly invite us again!’
